It is January 1944, and the country is gripped by the war. Nestled in the Lancashire moors sits the Phoenix Munitions Factory, where a group of girls work tirelessly to aid the war effort.
They don’t have much, but they do have have other. And wedding bells are a welcome distraction from the air-raid sirens, with Maggie preparing for her Big Day and Rosa newly engaged.
Then the arrival of a new Bomb Girl unsettles everyone.
Julia Thorpe is uppity and frosty, and furious about giving up her coveted place at Oxford University. The girls think she is a dreadful snob, so when she unearths a secret Rosa is guarding, things quickly turn sour, and the girls find themselves in their own personal war.
But will such bad feelings spoil budding romances?
Because not everything is fair in love and war.
